The Persado MCP connects Gemini Enterprise to Persado’s machine learning models, trained on real campaign results, so users can score and improve content where they’re already working.
To enable Gemini Enterprise users in your organization to add the Persado MCP, admins must first complete the below installation steps.
Key Prerequisites: The administrator completing the installation must:
For users to add and use the Persado agent, they must also have a Gemini Enterprise Standard license (or higher) and a Discovery Engine User role. |
Installation Steps
Step 1: Allow Custom MCP Server Connectors
In the Google Cloud console, confirm the project created for setup is selected at the top of the page (for example, Gemini Enterprise in the screenshot below). Open the navigation menu, select ‘IAM & Admin,’ then under ‘Resource Management,’ select ‘Organization Policies.’
In the ‘Filter’ field, search for and select ‘Disable custom MCP server connector for Gemini Enterprise’ (constraint ID: discoveryengine.managed.disableCustomMcpServerConnector). The policy appears in the list with an enforcement state of Active.
At the far right of the policy row, click the three-dot Actions menu and select ‘Edit policy.’
If ‘Manage policy’ is greyed out, your account is missing the permissions needed to change this policy. Click ‘Manage policy’ to display the permissions notice, then click ‘Fix access.’ If ‘Manage policy’ is available, skip to Step 6.
The ‘You need additional access’ panel will list the missing permissions. Under ‘Select a role to grant,’ expand ‘Organization Policy Administrator’ and click ‘Grant access.’
On the ‘Edit policy’ page, under ‘Policy source,’ select ‘Override parent’s policy.’ Then click ‘Add a rule.’
In the ‘New rule’ panel, under ‘Enforcement,’ select Off, then click ‘Done.’
Confirm the rule now displays as Not enforced, then click ‘Set policy.’
Step 2: Allow the Persado Egress Domain
Return to ‘IAM & Admin’ → ‘Organization Policies.’ In the ‘Filter’ field, search for and select ‘Restrict egress domains for data connectors’ (constraint ID: discoveryengine.managed.allowedEgressFqdns). Click the policy name to open it.
On the ‘Policy details’ page, click ‘Manage policy.’
Under ‘Policy source,’ select ‘Override parent’s policy,’ then click ‘Add a rule.’
In the ‘New rule’ panel, under ‘Enforcement,’ select ‘On.’ In the ‘Parameters’ table, click the pencil (edit) icon on the allowedEgressFqdns row.
In the ‘Edit parameter values’ panel, set ‘Value type’ to ‘User-defined.’ Under ‘User-defined values,’ enter the following, using ‘Add a value’ for the second entry:
Value 1: api.persado.com
Value 2: myaccount.persado.com
Confirm the allowedEgressFqdns row now lists both Persado domains with a value type of User-defined, then click ‘Set policy.’
If the Save and set policy changes without testing dialog appears, click ‘Set policy’ to apply.
Step 3: Create the Persado MCP Data Store
Open the corresponding project and select Data stores in the left hand menu, then click Create data store.
On the source step, scroll to the ‘MCP servers’ section. On the Custom MCP Server card, click ‘Add MCP server.’
On the Data step, under Authentication settings, select OAuth 2.0 and complete the fields as follows:
MCP Server URL: https://api.persado.com/mcp
Authorization URL Parameters: &prompt=consent
Client ID: mcp-portal
Client Secret: mcp-portal
Scopes: openid profile offline_access mcp:tools
Select ‘Enable PKCE Support.’ Leave ‘Use HTTP Basic Authentication’ unchecked. Click ‘Verify Auth.’
A Persado sign-in window will open. Enter your Persado portal credentials and click ‘Sign in’ and then complete your organization’s sign-in process.
Confirm the address bar shows myaccount.persado.com before entering credentials. If you don't yet have a Persado account, contact your Persado representative.
On the ‘Grant Access to Persado MCP’ screen, review the listed privileges and click ‘Yes.’ The window will close and authentication is confirmed. Click ‘Continue.’
On the ‘Configuration’ step, leave the Multi-region setting as ‘global (Global).’ In the ‘Data connector name,’ enter ‘Persado’ or a desired identifying name. Leave ‘Tag and Sensitive data protection policy’ blank unless your organization requires them. Click ‘Create.’
Step 4: Enable the Persado Actions
The connector’s ‘Details’ page opens with Connector state showing ‘Creating.’ Wait for this to change to ‘Active’ (refresh the page as needed). On the banner that notes actions are currently disabled, click ‘Go to actions.’
On the ‘Actions’ tab, click ‘Reload custom actions’ to retrieve the action list from the Persado MCP server.
If the Persado sign-in window appears again, sign in with your Persado Portal credentials, then click ‘Yes’ on the ‘Grant Access to Persado MCP’ window.
Select the checkbox in the table header to select all four actions: Get Persado Scorecard, Initialize, Optimize Marketing Content, and Score Marketing Content, then click ‘Enable actions.’
Verify that the ‘Status’ column shows ‘Enabled’ for all four actions.
Step 5: Connect the Data Store to your Gemini Enterprise App
Open your Gemini Enterprise app and select ‘Connected data stores,’ then choose the option to add a data store. In the ‘Connect an existing data store’ panel, select ‘Persado’ (Custom MCP Server) and its child entry ‘mcp_data,’ then click ‘Connect.’
On the ‘Connected data stores’ page, confirm Persado is listed with a status of Active.
Step 6: Access your Gemini Enterprise Web App
Sign in to the Google Cloud console and select the project that hosts your Gemini Enterprise subscription. In the search bar at the top, type “gemini products” and then select ‘Gemini Enterprise.’
In the left navigation, click ‘Apps’ and click the name of the app used with Persado MCP.
The app overview page will open on the Dashboard. Click ‘Copy URL’ to copy the web app link, which begins with https://vertexaisearch.cloud.google.com/home/cid/. Please share this link with users who require access to Persado MCP.
