Before you begin
This guide shows how to add Persado to a personal Gemini account as a custom app. It takes about 5 minutes. Use it until the Persado app is listed in Gemini.
Who this is for: Gemini users with a personal Google account. On a Google Workspace work account, use the existing Gemini admin installation and user installation guides instead.
Key prerequisites:
A personal Google account. Google may limit custom apps by country, age, or language. Check Google's Gemini help if you don't see the custom apps option.
Gemini on the web (gemini.google.com) on a computer.
A Persado account. You'll sign in to Persado Portal during setup.

Add Persado to Gemini
1. Open Skills
Click the settings gear next to your name, in the bottom-left corner. Then click ‘Skills.’
2. Add a Custom App
Open the ‘Connectors’ tab. Click ‘+ Custom.’
3. Enter the Server Details
In Connect to an MCP server, enter:
Click ‘Show more,’ then enter:
Client ID: mcp-portal
Client secret: mcp-portal
4. Connect
Tick the checkbox. Then click ‘Connect.’
5. Sign in to Persado
The Persado sign-in page opens. Enter your work email and sign in.
6. Link your Accounts
Google asks to link your Google account to Persado. Review what Persado can do.
Then click ‘Agree and continue.’
7. Save the App
Gemini shows the Persado tools. Click ‘Connect’ to save the app.
Step 8. Start using Persado
Gemini confirms that Persado is connected. Click ‘Try now.’
Or, open a new chat and type @persado. Pick ‘Persado’ from the list. Then ask Persado to score or improve content.
Troubleshooting
Problem | What to do |
No Custom option under Connectors | You may be on a work or school account, or custom apps aren't available in your country or language yet. Use a personal Google account. |
The URL is rejected | Use exactly https://api.persado.com/mcp, with https:// and .com. |
Sign-in fails or shows an error | Check that Client ID and Client secret are both mcp-portal. Remove the app and add it again. |
Persado doesn't answer in chat | Type @persado and pick Persado from the list. Check it's listed under Skills → Connectors. |
