We’re sometimes asked when it’s more advantageous to start with existing copy (“Improve”) versus generating from scratch (“Generate”) when using self-service. The table below provides some overall guidance, but keep in mind that there is no “wrong answer;” you can even improve and generate for the same campaign if you’re simply curious about the different outputs you’ll receive and would like more options!

🧠 When Improving, our model focuses on the context provided by your control and keyphrases, and stick as close as possible to these parameters

🧠 When Generating, our model is allowed more creative freedom, and will stick to your style guidelines and keyphrases provided

✅ Ideal for when you don’t want to stray too far from your original message

✅ Ideal for when you’re looking for more inspiration and are open to creative results

🗒️ Ideal for when you have a control message handy that captures all relevant details of your offer

⏱️ Ideal for when you don’t have a defined control message and want to get started right away—or if you’re not totally happy with the control, and want some fresh ideas

📨 Example Campaigns:

  • A defined credit card offer with historical examples of copy sent

  • A mortgage campaign with an existing control that captures the relevant features of the offer

  • Any time you have an existing control you’d like to improve!

📨 Example Campaigns:

  • A net new credit card offer with defined features and benefits, but no control

  • A mortgage campaign with an existing control that doesn’t quite capture the offer

  • Any time you want more creative options (even if you already have a control message)!
