Once you’ve provided your brand voice materials per the guidelines here, the Persado team will build your custom language model. This article outlines what brand voice capabilities you can expect to see in Portal once the process is complete and how to set up language exclusions.

Review Style Guidelines in Portal

Once we’ve ingested your brand guidelines and historical samples, you’ll see the following updates in Portal:

  • The self-service content that you generate will be more reflective of your tone of voice, audience, and brand guidelines (in other words: you've helped our model understand how to write for you!).

  • You’ll see custom keyphrases in your account that are relevant to the types of campaign you typically run. These will appear in blue as “hints” when you generate content.

  • Your account will be configured with your brand’s Style Guidelines and tone of voice. You’ll be able to reference these any time and toggle selections on or off when generating content for a campaign.

If anything looks incorrect in your Style Guidelines, please reach out to your Onboarding Manager with any details/recommendations so they can coordinate updates with our Content Intelligence team.

Set Up Language Exclusions

Any Portal admin users on your team can now set up language exclusions to indicate any words, phrases, emojis, or symbols that should always be restricted from appearing in your content. We recommend doing this up front for any known restrictions.

To add to the Exclusion List:

  1. Navigate to the ‘Brand Management’ tab on the top of your Portal screen, and then select ‘Exclusion List.’

  2. Click ‘+ New Item’ when you want to add a new excluded item (e.g., “guaranteed,” “🙌”). Note that whatever is added here will be excluded verbatim from all future content.

  3. Click ‘Enter’ to save the item to the list. You’ll be able to see who added each exclusion and when for reference.

FAQs

Will the exclusion list recognize related word forms?

No. Exclusions are ingested by our AI verbatim. Please enter the exact word, emoji, symbol, or phrase that you would not like to see in your content generated.

Is there anything I shouldn’t enter into the Exclusion List?

It’s important to remember that content is excluded verbatim on how it is entered. If you have a word that you would only exclude in certain scenarios, or a word that could mean different things in different contexts (e.g., “free” which can be used in multiple contexts such as “buy one get one free” or “school’s out, you’re free!”), we don’t recommend including these in the Exclusion List.

What if I want something to appear less, but not be entirely excluded?

Anything you enter in the exclusions list will not appear in any future content generation. Therefore, we recommend only using this functionality when your brand guidelines specify that something should not appear under any circumstances. You can use the “less like this” feature to prompt something to appear less when you see it (learn more about the Content Feedback feature here).

What if I’ve already provided exclusions before this feature rollout?

If you already have exclusions saved, you can now review/edit these in the Brand Management tab. Please note that this feature is currently for self-service users only.
