There are a variety of ways you can adjust your content in Persado Portal once you’ve initially generated or improved content for a campaign. The most important thing to keep in mind is that how you revise your content is up to you and your business priorities—and we have tools along the way to help you decide what to deploy!

We recommend following these steps when revising your content.

1. Check Performance Prediction and Brand Alignment Scores

Your content will be ranked by Performance Prediction score in your industry. Each Variant's Brand Alignment score will also be displayed for your consideration.

  • Performance Prediction scores are based on our expansive knowledge base, which contains the equivalent of 800,000+ A/B tests. In the example above, the top Variant is predicted to outperform 61% of messages in retail and eCommerce.

  • Brand Alignment scores are a 1 to 5 scale rating of how well a Variant aligns with the model’s understanding of your brand. Both scores are intended to help guide your decision-making process when you’re selecting which Variants to deploy to your audience.

  • If you’re improving content, your control will appear at the top of this list for reference, so it’s easy to compare.

We recommend using these scores in the following fashion:

  • Always aim for picking Variants with a Performance Prediction score that’s 10 to 15 points higher than your control (if you’re using one). In general, aim to pick scores on the higher end for this particular campaign!

  • If a Brand Alignment score is on the lower end (a score of 3 or less), review the content to make sure it suits the tone of your particular campaign and make edits as needed.

  • If the scores seem generally low, press ‘Generate’ as many times as you like to see new options. There is no limit to how many times you generate—play with it!

  • As you make revisions per the next steps, keep an eye on both scores to make sure they don’t drastically change (small changes aren’t anything to worry about).

2. Get AI Alternatives, Provide Content Feedback, and Manually Edit to your Content

Once you’ve familiarized yourself with the content, it’s the perfect time to get AI alternatives, provide feedback, and make edits.

However you decide to update your Variants, make sure formatting, key messages, and emojis are consistent across Variants and the control. For example:

  • If your control has a promotional offering such as “Mix & Match,” ensure that the Persado Variants you move forward with also have the same formatting for “Mix & Match” as the control (as opposed to “Mix and Match”).

  • If your control includes emoji(s) and you would like to have them in all Variants, but you cannot find a Persado option with any, simply copy and paste the emoji(s) into the Persado Variants you move forward with to match the styling.

Get AI Alternatives

You can click into any text you'd like more options for. This will load a text editor to better indicate the ways you can update the Variant.

Highlight a word or a full phrase while you’re in the text editor, and then click on the pencil icon to see AI Alternatives. AI Alternatives are paraphrased options of the content and how it is predicted to perform in comparison. If you see an alternative that you like, click on it to swap it in.

AI Alternatives can be very handy when there’s a particular part of a Variant you think you can improve—or even if you just want inspiration around different language.

Provide Content Feedback

If you're seeing content you really like, we recommend using the Content Feedback feature to ask the AI to generate more content like it (or, if you see content you don't like, to ask it to generate less). This will only apply to this campaign.

Click and highlight the text and then use the 👍 or 👎 button.

To Edit

To make a manual adjustment to any part of a Variant, click into the Variant text to edit it directly. Press ‘Enter’ when you’re done and the change will automatically save.

If your Performance Prediction score changes dramatically, you can always revert to the original message by clicking the undo icon.

3. Adjust your Style Guidelines for Even More Options

Your style guidelines will appear to the left of your content and will reflect any brand voice information your team has already provided. However, you can also enter descriptions of your voice and tone manually for any revisions you’d like to see for a particular campaign!

Here are some different ways you can adjust your style guidelines:

  • Use the ‘Campaign Tone’ field to add or adjust tones.

  • Toggle on/off emoji usage, casing, punctuation, and more. Less restrictive guidelines allow for more creativity and variation in the content you receive.

  • Use creative and thematic keyphrases that describe the campaign, offer, or product in more detail. Read more about keyphrase best practices here.

  • Use the Content Feedback feature to infuse more on-brand language into your content and filter out any words or phrases that don’t align. You can manage these selections under the ‘Content Feedback’ section in your left-hand sidebar.

  • If the content isn’t ideal, you don’t need to start again from the beginning. Just click the 'Generate' button again, leaving all the same hints and/or keyphrases on your left-hand sidebar, and you’ll receive more content options. If the content still looks off, click 'Generate' again before changing the control or adding more Other Content Considerations.

4. Save Variants You Plan to Deploy

When you have a Variant you’d like to move forward with, click the folder icon to ‘Save’ it. You can save as many as you need. This will allow you to move to the next phase of formally approving Variants with your team and deploying them in market.

We recommend releasing more than 1 Variant against your control so our machine can learn even faster about your brand.

How Many Variants Should You Deploy?

While you can deploy as many Variants as you like, we recommend considering your business goals to determine the ideal number to put in market. Here are some pros and cons to consider.

Pros

Cons

Deploying 1 Persado Variant (against control if applicable)

  • Ease of deployment

  • Ease of reaching statistically significant results for lower volumes

  • No learning/insights gathered for your brand (no control → no measurement)

Deploying 2+ Persado Variants (against control if applicable)

  • Learning/insights gathered for your brand, assuming you deploy against the control

  • Recommended for initial campaigns so our machine learns more about your brand

  • Challenges reaching statistical significance for each Variant

More Tips on Statistical Significance

When determining the number of Variants to include in a messaging test, understanding statistical significance is crucial. Statistical significance helps ensure that the differences observed in your test results are not due to random chance but are instead reflective of true differences in performance.

Volume Considerations

To achieve statistical significance, a sufficient volume of data is necessary. This means having enough participants exposed to each Variant to confidently detect differences in outcomes. The larger the sample size, the more reliable your results will be. Insufficient volume can lead to inconclusive or misleading results, as small sample sizes may not accurately capture the effects of each Variant.

Primary Metric

Identify the primary metric you'll be measuring, such as click-through rates, conversion rates, or engagement levels. This metric should align with your business goals and provide a clear indication of which messaging Variant performs best. By focusing on a primary metric, you can more easily determine whether the differences observed are statistically significant and actionable.

Ensuring statistical significance in your messaging tests allows for data-driven decisions, optimizing your messaging strategy and improving overall performance.

5. Give your Campaign a Name

Make sure to name your campaign by using the pencil icon. We recommend setting up a consistent naming convention - but make sure your name doesn’t contain emojis, as this can cause issues with integrations.

If you forget, no worries - Portal will automatically assign a name based on your hints and/or keyphrases. You can also rename a campaign at any time by hovering over the three dots next to it and selecting ‘Rename.’

Congratulations! You’re done generating your content. Next, learn how to finalize and approve it with your team.
